Chapter 6 - The Brother's Betrayal

The walls of the motel room felt like they were shrinking around Adrian.

Julian was alive.

His older brother, the man he had mourned and wept for, was the mastermind behind this entire nightmare.

Adrian picked the phone back up, his hands trembling with a mixture of rage and profound heartbreak.

"Are you absolutely certain it's Julian?" Adrian asked Marcus.

"The biometric data is a perfect match," Marcus confirmed grimly. "Julian faked his death to avoid federal indictment for embezzlement."

It all made terrifying sense now.

When their wealthy father passed away last year, he had left the entire billion-dollar estate solely to Adrian and his children.

Julian couldn't legally claim a single penny because he was supposed to be dead.

So, Julian sent his own secret wife, playing the role of Vanessa, to seduce and marry Adrian.

They planned to eliminate the children, murder Adrian, and inherit the entire family empire legally through Vanessa.

"Marcus, I need to know where Julian is hiding," Adrian demanded, his voice hardening into steel.

"I tracked the IP address from the fake cop's encrypted radio," Marcus replied. "They are operating out of the abandoned shipyard on Pier 44."

Adrian thanked his friend and hung up the phone.

He looked at Lily and Noah sleeping peacefully on the cheap mattress.

He could not keep running and hiding while his family was hunted like animals.

He called a trusted private nanny service and arranged for a secure, heavily armed transport to hide his children in a safe house.

Once he watched the armored van drive away with his kids safely inside, Adrian prepared for war.

He drove to his hidden storage unit and retrieved a tactical vest, a loaded handgun, and a series of flashbang grenades.

He arrived at Pier 44 just as the sun began to rise over the foggy harbor.

He silently broke into the main warehouse, creeping past two heavily armed guards patrolling the catwalk.

Adrian slipped into the central office and found Julian sitting in front of a massive bank of computer monitors.

"Hello, big brother," Adrian said, stepping out of the shadows with his gun raised.

Julian slowly spun around in his expensive leather chair, completely unbothered by the weapon.

"You always were too sentimental, Adrian," Julian smirked.

Julian pressed a single button on his desk, and a large metal blast shield instantly slammed down over the only exit door.

"Did you really think I wouldn't track the GPS in your car?" Julian laughed.
