Chapter 8 - The Desperate Flight

Marcus collapsed to his knees, clutching his bleeding shoulder as Evelyn aggressively pulled the knife free.

Dozens of heavily armed FBI tactical units finally breached the main doors of the greenhouse.

Evelyn realized she was completely outnumbered and instantly dropped the remote detonator onto the dirt floor.

She turned and sprinted through a shattered glass panel, disappearing into the dense, surrounding forest.

I rushed to Marcus’s side and applied intense pressure to his bleeding wound using my coat.

He gritted his teeth and ordered his tactical team to pursue Evelyn before she could reach her extraction point.

Daniel was already in federal custody, screaming at the agents as they dragged him out of the greenhouse in handcuffs.

Mia fell to the ground, sobbing with absolute relief that the nightmare was finally ending.

The paramedics arrived quickly and loaded Marcus onto a stretcher, assuring me that the stab wound was not fatal.

I helped Mia walk out to the command vehicle so she could safely reunite with her newborn baby.

An FBI agent approached us with a completely devastated expression on his face.

He informed Mia that they had just raided the private recovery clinic to secure her child.

The nursery was completely empty, and the security guards had been found unconscious on the floor.

Evelyn had not fled the greenhouse to escape into the wilderness and save herself.

She had used the chaos as a distraction to circle back to the clinic and kidnap her own infant grandson.

She was taking the baby to the cartel as a final, desperate bargaining chip to purchase her freedom.

Mia let out a blood-curdling scream and collapsed into my arms in a state of absolute despair.

I looked at the digital tracking map on the FBI command screen and made a silent vow.

I was not going to let that monster destroy another family and walk away unpunished.
