She sat on the wooden bench beside me and began to cry silently into her hands.
She confessed that she had discovered Daniel’s true identity a month before the baby was born.
When she confronted him, Evelyn locked her inside the private recovery clinic and confiscated her phone.
Mia handed me a small, encrypted flash drive she had stolen from Daniel’s laptop.
She explained that the drive contained the master ledger for the cartel’s entire money laundering operation.
This was the exact evidence Marcus needed to authorize a massive federal raid on Evelyn’s estate.
I promised Mia that the FBI would extract her and her baby tonight before the cartel arrived.
She thanked me profusely and stood up to leave the greenhouse before Evelyn’s guards noticed she was missing.
As she turned around, the glass doors of the greenhouse suddenly locked with a loud, metallic click.
