Chapter 9 - THE ULTIMATUM

Alexander’s phone buzzed. It was a live video feed.
His blood ran cold. The video showed the mountain cabin. His two loyal bodyguards were on the floor, unconscious. And sitting in a chair, bound with zip ties, was Rosa. A mercenary stood behind her, a gun pressed to her head. Little Mia was crying in the corner, clutching her bear.
"The police are ten minutes away," Victor whispered, leaning over the boardroom table. "Transfer your controlling shares to me, call off the FBI, and I'll let them live. You have sixty seconds."
Alexander stared at the screen. The empire he had built, the billions of dollars, meant absolutely nothing to him in that moment. All that mattered was the woman and the little girl who had brought him back to life.
"Fine," Alexander said. He pulled out his executive tablet. "I'm initiating the transfer."

"Alexander, no!" Rosa screamed through the video feed. "Don't give it to him!"
"I don't care about the money, Rosa," Alexander said, staring deeply into the camera. He typed rapidly on his screen. "I just care about my family. Hold on."
