Chapter 9 - The Fiery Confession

The velvet curtains instantly engulfed in bright, roaring orange flames as the principal flicked his silver lighter.
The fire spread with terrifying speed, climbing the wooden walls of the auditorium and sending thick black smoke toward the ceiling.
Inside the locked AV booth, the temperature began to rise rapidly, making it incredibly difficult for Emily to breathe.
“We have to break the glass!” Noah yelled, grabbing a heavy metal microphone stand from the corner of the room.
He swung the stand violently against the reinforced observation window, but the thick glass merely spider-webbed without shattering.
Below them, Principal Vance casually walked toward the main exit, believing he had perfectly eliminated his only two problems.
“He is going to get away with everything,” Emily coughed, dropping to her knees to avoid the thickening smoke seeping under the door.
Noah swung the metal stand one more time with all of his remaining strength, finally shattering the glass into a million dangerous pieces.
They carefully climbed through the jagged opening, dropping down onto the slanted roof of the technical booth.
They slid down the side, coughing violently as the toxic smoke filled their burning lungs.
Instead of running for the exit, Emily sprinted directly toward the blazing stage, covering her mouth with her sleeve.
“Emily, what are you doing, we have to get out of here!” Noah screamed, grabbing her arm to pull her back.
“The timer is still active on the console, if we leave now, the fire will destroy the servers before the assembly starts!” she argued fiercely.
She grabbed a heavy fire extinguisher from the wall and began spraying the chemical foam wildly at the base of the server rack.
She needed to buy the electronics just a few more hours of survival until the police arrived in the morning.
Suddenly, the auditorium doors burst open, and a team of heavily armed firefighters rushed inside with massive water hoses.
They quickly subdued the flames, dragging Emily and Noah out into the crisp, cool night air of the parking lot.
Paramedics placed oxygen masks over their faces, checking them for severe burns and smoke inhalation.
Emily looked across the chaotic parking lot, surrounded by flashing red lights and blaring sirens.
Standing near a police cruiser was Principal Vance, playing the role of a devastated administrator watching his school burn.
He pointed a dramatic, accusatory finger directly at Emily and Noah as the police officers approached them.
“Those two disgruntled students broke in and tried to burn the school down because they were suspended!” the principal shouted loudly.
An officer stepped forward, pulling a pair of heavy steel handcuffs from his utility belt.
Before he could reach Emily, a massive digital billboard across the street suddenly flickered to life.

Noah had not just set the timer for the school projector; he had mirrored the broadcast to the city's emergency alert network.
The billboard displayed a massive, crystal-clear spreadsheet, highlighting the principal’s name next to millions of dollars in stolen funds.
