Chapter 7 - The Master Manipulator
Vanessa aggressively snatched the heavy rifle right out of my violently trembling hands.
She forcefully pushed me down the steep metal stairs of the catwalk until I fell onto the hard concrete platform.
Grant slowly stepped out from behind the pillar, brushing the thick dust off his incredibly expensive suit.
He looked down at me with absolute, sickening disgust and casually kicked me in the ribs.
He ordered Vanessa to quickly grab the crying baby from the dark corner and prepare for immediate extraction.
Vanessa walked over to the makeshift bed, but she suddenly completely froze in her tracks.
She looked down at Noah, then slowly turned around to face Grant with a look of pure, unadulterated hatred.
She raised her stolen handgun and aimed it directly at Grant’s arrogant, smug face.
Grant took a sudden, fearful step back and aggressively demanded to know what she was doing.
Vanessa revealed that she had secretly visited the nursing home an hour ago to check on my mother.
She discovered that Grant had actually ordered his men to completely burn the facility to the ground.
Vanessa’s own elderly grandmother was a permanent resident in that exact same fragile care facility.
Grant had ruthlessly murdered Vanessa's only remaining family member just to easily eliminate my mother.
Grant laughed nervously and tried to manipulate her, claiming it was just a necessary, unfortunate business casualty.
Vanessa’s eyes burned with the furious, undeniable wrath of a woman who had lost absolutely everything.
She fired a single, deafening shot that completely shattered Grant’s right kneecap.
Grant collapsed to the cold floor, screaming in absolute, blinding agony as blood poured from his ruined leg.
Vanessa looked at me and softly told me to take my son and run as far away as possible.

Before I could even stand up, the massive steel doors of the subway station violently exploded inward.
A terrifyingly calm man stepped through the smoke, holding my sick mother tightly by her fragile throat.
