Chapter 9 - The Reunion

We sprinted back to the hidden shipping crate on the factory floor.
I pried the wooden lid open and found Sophia huddled safely inside, exactly where I had left her.
"Mommy!" Sophia cried out, leaping into Alina's waiting arms.
Alina broke down into heavy, uncontrollable sobs, kissing her daughter's face repeatedly.
I wrapped my arms securely around both of them, shielding them from the horrors of the bloody room.
My family was finally whole again after six long years of absolute agony.
The wail of distant police sirens began to cut through the cold night air.
My loyal men arrived in heavily armored vehicles to secure the perimeter.
I escorted my wife and daughter out of the warehouse and into the safety of an armored truck.
I looked back at the massive factory, wondering exactly who had fired that fatal sniper shot.
Matteo was dead, his loyalists were eliminated, and my empire was completely secure once again.

We drove away into the quiet, peaceful darkness of the sleeping city.
The nightmare that had destroyed my life was officially, permanently over.
