Chapter 9 - The Boardroom Breach

Adrian slammed his bloody fists against the reinforced glass doors in a state of absolute, maddening frustration.

His multi-billion-dollar global empire was firmly locked behind a piece of advanced technology he had personally paid millions to install.

Grace stepped forward quietly, placing a remarkably calming hand on his tense, aggressively shaking shoulder.

"My mother meticulously kept the original architectural blueprints of this entire tower hidden under her mattress for years," Grace said quickly, her eyes scanning the alley.

She confidently led him toward a rusted, forgotten iron grate covering an old subterranean ventilation shaft utilized strictly during the building's original construction.

They pulled the incredibly heavy iron grate aside together and crawled blindly into the dark, dusty tunnel that completely bypassed the modern security systems entirely.

The cramped shaft led them directly to the basement service elevators, leaving them completely unseen by the heavily armed lobby guards above.

Adrian skillfully overrode the elevator's manual maintenance controls, sending the metal box rocketing upward at top speed toward the fifty-eighth floor.

The elevator doors chimed politely and slid open, revealing the pristine, marble-floored executive hallway that Adrian knew so well.

They could clearly hear Malcolm's smooth, arrogant, and highly confident voice echoing from the open double doors of the grand boardroom at the end of the hall.

"With our beloved Adrian tragically lost to his own unfortunate madness, I humbly accept the heavy mantle of Chief Executive Officer," Malcolm proclaimed to the silent board members.

Adrian marched aggressively down the hallway, the thick mud from his ruined boots leaving dark, undeniable stains on the expensive white carpets.

He burst violently into the massive boardroom, causing a dozen incredibly wealthy investors to gasp in sheer shock at the terrifying sight of the dirty beggar.

"You are not accepting anything today, Malcolm," Adrian roared, his booming voice completely dominating the massive, silent room.

Malcolm did not look remotely scared; in fact, a sickeningly confident, knowing smile spread slowly across his handsome face.

The traitorous advisor slowly picked up a thick, bound stack of official legal documents from the center of the mahogany table.

"You are far too late, Adrian, because these specific papers grant me full, irrevocable ownership of all your corporate and personal assets," Malcolm stated smoothly.

Malcolm turned the heavy stack of papers around carefully to show the terrified board members the final, definitive page.

"And they feature your exact, perfect signature, legally notarized and completely verified by our own corporate lawyers just last week."
