Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Test

The wealthy board members murmured to each other in total confusion, completely torn between the dirty billionaire standing at the door and the pristine legal documents on the table.

Malcolm laughed openly, tapping the undeniable ink signature aggressively with his incredibly expensive gold pen.

"You signed everything away willingly while you were heavily drugged, Adrian, and there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it," Malcolm gloated openly in front of everyone.

Adrian did not panic, nor did he humiliate himself by begging for his stolen company back.

Instead, he reached casually into the pocket of his torn, muddy coat and pulled out a sleek, fully charged black smartphone.

"You are entirely right, Malcolm, I did indeed sign those papers last week," Adrian admitted, his voice eerily and terrifyingly calm.

"Because my private security team caught you actively tampering with my coffee months ago, and I simply wanted to see exactly how far your treasonous betrayal went."

Malcolm's deeply confident smile instantly faltered, a giant bead of cold sweat suddenly forming on his pale forehead.

Adrian quickly tapped the screen of his phone, instantly projecting a massive, authenticated financial document onto the boardroom's main presentation wall.

"The company you just eagerly took full ownership of is entirely and legally bankrupt," Adrian revealed to the stunned, breathless room.

"I secretly and legally transferred all the real assets, global patents, and liquid funds to an untouchable blind trust under Grace Miller's name three days before I put on these beggar clothes."

The heavy double doors to the boardroom suddenly burst open again, but this time it was federal agents heavily armed with official federal arrest warrants.

They immediately placed a violently struggling Malcolm in tight steel handcuffs, reading him his rights for corporate espionage, attempted murder, and grand embezzlement.

Victor and the highly corrupt local police chief were already sitting securely in the back of FBI transport vans parked directly outside the tower.

Adrian turned slowly to Grace, who was staring at the glowing projection screen in a state of total, paralyzed disbelief.

"Your mother's good name is officially cleared, Grace, and you are now the acting president of the newly formed Whitmore Charitable Foundation," Adrian said with a warm, genuinely beautiful smile.

For the very first time in his entire sheltered life, Adrian finally understood that true power came from earning trust, not enforcing fear.

A week later, Grace walked happily into her stunning new corner office perfectly overlooking the beautiful, sunny Manhattan skyline.

She sat comfortably at her large mahogany desk, feeling completely overwhelmed by the beautiful, happy ending she had finally and miraculously achieved.

Then, she noticed a strange, unmarked black envelope resting perfectly in the exact center of her pristine desk keyboard.

She opened it incredibly carefully and pulled out a single sheet of heavy, dark parchment paper.

The handwritten note inside read: "Malcolm was only a pathetic pawn, and your mother's tragic death was no accident. See you soon, Sister."
