Chapter 4 - The Internet Never Forgets

It took exactly four hours for the video to hit one million views. By Tuesday evening, it was at twenty million.

The internet exploded. The high-definition footage showed everything: Chloe's sickeningly cruel smile, the icy water hitting my face, the mocking laughter of the guests, and the heartless comments from her parents. It also clearly showed Sam, the teenage waiter, trying to help me, and Chloe threatening his job.

The comments were relentless.

“Who does this girl think she is? Put her in jail for assault!” “The entitlement is sickening. I hope her fiancé dumped her!” “Wait... is that Victoria Vance? The billionaire? OMG, that bride just ruined her own life.”

Cancel culture is a terrifying weapon, but when wielded against genuine malice, it is a sight to behold.

The fallout was instantaneous. Richard Kensington’s real estate firm lost three of its biggest clients in a single afternoon. Eleanor Kensington was removed from the board of her prestigious charity foundation because her presence was suddenly a "liability."

And Chloe? Chloe’s influencer sponsors dropped her faster than she had dropped that ice bucket.
