Chapter 8 - The Syndicate Threat

The armored SUV came to a screeching halt, pinning Victor's toolbox completely against the concrete wall.

Four heavily armed men wearing dark tactical gear poured out of the vehicle with military precision.

They were not local police or hired high school football coaches.

These were hardened enforcers from the out-of-state syndicate, and they looked incredibly angry.

Victor and I dove behind a massive pile of scrap metal as bullets shredded the garage office windows above our heads.

"Where is Michael?" the lead enforcer roared, his voice echoing brutally over the gunfire.

They didn't know who we were; they were simply looking to collect the debt Michael owed them.

I realized this was the perfect opportunity to deflect their murderous wrath back onto the man who caused this entire nightmare.

I raised my hands to show I was unarmed and slowly stood up from behind the scrap metal.

"I know exactly where Michael is hiding," I shouted over the ringing silence that followed the gunfire.

The enforcers kept their weapons trained tightly on my chest, demanding an address immediately.

I gave them the exact location of my parents' sprawling, gated estate in the wealthy suburbs.

I knew Michael had fled there to hide behind my parents' money and private security after his plan at the hospital failed.

The enforcers threw me violently to the ground and sped out of the ruined garage in their crushed SUV.

Victor helped me to my feet, wiping blood from a cut on his forehead caused by flying glass.

"You just sent a cartel hit squad to your parents' house," Victor said, looking at me with a mixture of awe and fear.

"They chose to protect a monster, so now they can deal with the monsters he brought to their door," I replied coldly.

I immediately dialed Detective Miller on my cell phone, knowing exactly how to spring the ultimate trap.

I anonymously reported a massive, armed home invasion currently taking place at my parents' address.

I knew the police response to that wealthy neighborhood would be instantaneous and completely overwhelming.

Victor and I drove to a safe distance overlooking the gated community to watch the fireworks unfold.

Dozens of police cruisers and SWAT trucks swarmed the massive estate, engaging in a fierce, chaotic standoff with the syndicate enforcers.

The police breached the front doors, arresting everyone inside, including Michael, Sarah, Tyler, and my corrupt parents.

It was the perfect, brutal justice I had been waiting for all day long.

But as I watched the news coverage on Victor's small garage television, a breaking news banner flashed across the bottom of the screen.

The SWAT team hadn't just found illegal steroids and cartel members inside my parents' basement.

They had discovered a massive, hidden vault completely filled with stolen human organs packaged for black market sale.
