Chapter 6 - The Missing Flight

I shoved the federal agents aside and bolted straight out the front door before they could stop me.

I jumped into my old sedan, ignoring their loud shouts demanding that I remain on the property.

I slammed my foot onto the gas pedal, tearing out of the driveway and speeding recklessly toward the city police precinct.

I knew there was only one person twisted enough to know exactly which private airfield Eleanor was using.

I burst into the chaotic police station and aggressively demanded to speak to my husband.

Because I was still legally his wife and had not been formally charged yet, the tired desk sergeant granted me five minutes.

They escorted me to a bleak, concrete interrogation room where Julian was handcuffed to a metal table.

He looked battered from his arrest, but his eyes still held that familiar, sickening gleam of arrogance.

I slammed my hands onto the cold metal table and demanded to know where his mother was taking my children.

Julian leaned back in his uncomfortable metal chair and let out a dark, raspy laugh.

He confessed that he and his mother had planned this contingency weeks ago, just in case his embezzlement was ever discovered.

He coldly told me that my babies were currently on their way to a non-extradition country where I would never see them again.

I begged him, tears streaming down my face, pleading for the sake of his own flesh and blood.

Julian leaned forward, his voice dropping to a sinister, quiet whisper.

He promised to give me the exact coordinates of the private airstrip on one strict condition.

I had to sign a full written confession taking absolute responsibility for the massive corporate fraud.

He wanted me to rot in federal prison for twenty years while he walked away completely free.

I stared at the monster I had married, realizing he never loved me or our beautiful children.

I slowly reached for the cheap pen resting on the interrogation table, ready to sacrifice my entire life to save my babies.

Just as the pen touched the paper, the heavy metal door of the room swung forcefully open.

Selina walked into the interrogation room, still wearing her wet, blood-stained party dress.

She looked directly at Julian with a terrifyingly calm smile and slapped a thick manila folder onto the table.

Selina told Julian that if I signed that paper, she would send this folder directly to the FBI.
