Chapter 2 - The Goddess Falls

The glossy photographs fluttered to the ground, revealing horrifying images that made my stomach turn.

They were secretly taken pictures of Selina walking to her car, shopping for groceries, and sitting inside her own living room.

Mark picked up one of the photos and his face drained of all color.

Selina’s voice trembled slightly as she confessed to the entire party.

She explained that Julian had been secretly stalking her for the past six months.

He had hidden a GPS tracker under her car and installed tiny cameras around her property.

The expensive jewelry and designer skirts Julian always complimented her on were not bought by her husband.

They were anonymously delivered gifts funded entirely by the money Julian had stolen from his company.

Julian stammered and took a step back, frantically looking for a way to escape the tightening circle of furious guests.

He tried to claim that Selina had manipulated him and begged him for the money.

Mark let out a roar of absolute fury and lunged at his older brother.

The two men collided violently, crashing through a table full of expensive catering and shattering glass everywhere.

Guests screamed and scattered in terror as the physical fight escalated completely out of control.

I stood frozen in shock as years of hidden family resentment exploded into brutal violence right in front of me.

Julian threw a desperate, heavy punch that connected squarely with Mark's jaw.

Mark stumbled backward, his expensive dress shoes slipping on the spilled champagne covering the deck.

He lost his balance completely and tipped backward toward the edge of the deep swimming pool.

His head struck the sharp, decorative stone fountain with a sickening, audible crack.

Mark's limp body plunged into the deep water, sending a massive splash across the patio.

For a brief second, everyone assumed he would just swim to the surface.

Then a dark, horrifying cloud of thick red blood began to spread rapidly through the crystal clear water.

Selina let out a blood-curdling scream and dove directly into the pool in her expensive dress.

Julian stood by the edge of the water, panting heavily, refusing to help his dying brother.

He slowly turned his cold, calculating eyes toward me.

Julian pointed directly at my face and yelled that this was entirely my fault.
