Chapter 1 - The Dark Secret

My voice echoed through the silent backyard, carrying a weight I had suppressed for two agonizing years.
Julian stopped dead in his tracks, his arrogant smirk entirely wiped away.
He tried to lunge forward to snatch the microphone from my trembling hands.
His younger brother Mark suddenly stepped into his path and pushed him back.
Mark crossed his arms and demanded that Julian let me finish speaking.
I looked out at the crowd of wealthy executives, fake friends, and gossiping neighbors who had just been laughing at my expense.
I took a deep breath and looked directly into my husband's terrified eyes.
I announced to the crowd that Julian did not lose his prestigious corporate job due to unfortunate company cutbacks.
A collective gasp rippled through the lavish patio as people began to whisper.
I revealed that he was actually fired for embezzling over a hundred thousand dollars from his own department.
Julian screamed at me to shut my mouth, his face turning a dangerous shade of crimson.
I refused to stop and tightened my grip on the heavy microphone.
I told everyone that he had used that stolen money to fund a lavish double life.
While I was drowning in unpaid bills and nursing our newborn, Julian was renting a luxury penthouse across town.
He was using that penthouse to sleep with his boss's executive assistant.
The silence that followed my confession was absolutely deafening.
Guests stared at Julian in absolute disgust, their champagne glasses frozen in mid-air.
Julian desperately tried to laugh it off, claiming that I was simply having a mental breakdown from exhaustion.
He pointed a shaking finger at me and told the crowd that I was a hysterical, jealous liar.
Before I could even defend myself against his pathetic gaslighting, someone else walked gracefully toward the DJ booth.
It was Selina, the woman Julian had just called an untouchable goddess.
She took the microphone gently from my hand and turned to face her brother-in-law.
Selina looked at Julian with utter contempt and stated that I was not lying about anything.
She reached into her designer purse and pulled out a thick stack of printed photographs.
May you like
Selina threw the photos directly into Julian's face, scattering them across the wooden deck.
She looked at her husband Mark and revealed that Julian's dark secrets went much deeper than embezzlement.
