Chapter 3 - Blood In The Water

Absolute chaos swallowed the backyard as multiple guests frantically pulled their phones out to call for an ambulance.

Two brave men jumped into the blood-stained water to help Selina drag her unconscious husband to the surface.

Mark was bleeding profusely from a massive gash on the side of his head, his face pale and completely lifeless.

I rushed forward with a pile of clean towels to help put pressure on the terrible wound.

Julian aggressively grabbed my arm and violently yanked me away from his brother.

He loudly declared to the terrified crowd that I had deliberately provoked this entire tragedy.

Julian spun a twisted, desperate lie on the spot, claiming I had forged those stalking photos to destroy his family out of pure jealousy.

He insisted that I was mentally unstable and had manipulated Mark into attacking him.

The distant wail of police sirens began to echo through our upscale suburban neighborhood.

Within minutes, armed officers and paramedics swarmed through the side gate of our property.

The paramedics loaded Mark onto a stretcher and rushed him toward the waiting ambulance, with a sobbing Selina following closely behind.

A stern-looking police sergeant approached Julian to ask exactly what had happened.

Julian immediately put on a brilliant, tearful performance of a victimized husband.

He told the officer that I had suffered a psychotic break, ruined his birthday, and intentionally caused the physical altercation that nearly killed his brother.

Several guests who had been drinking heavily actually nodded in agreement, confused by the rapid escalation of violence.

The sergeant turned to me with a cold, suspicious glare and reached for his handcuffs.

He informed me that I was being detained for questioning regarding the incitement of domestic violence and assault.

I backed away in horror, begging them to look at the photos Selina had dropped on the deck.

Julian had conveniently kicked all the damning photographs into the pool during the chaotic rescue.

I felt cold metal close tightly around my wrists as the officer began reading me my rights.

Julian watched me with a victorious, evil smirk, believing he had successfully turned the tables.

Suddenly, a young catering waiter pushed his way through the crowd of police officers.

He held up his smartphone, which was actively playing a high-definition video of the entire fight.

The waiter nervously announced that the video clearly showed Julian deliberately shoving Mark toward the dangerous stones.
