Chapter 9 - The Arrest

Clara screamed in agony, dropping her weapon as she grabbed her bleeding, glass-covered face.
Glen instantly dropped his gun and fell to his knees on the tarmac, sobbing uncontrollably with his hands in the air.
I sprinted up the metal stairs, completely ignoring him, and snatched Ariel securely into my arms.
My daughter buried her face into my neck, crying softly as I promised her everything was finally going to be okay.
The wail of heavy sirens suddenly filled the airfield as a dozen black tactical vans swarmed the runway.
My father’s high-powered federal connections had finally arrived to clean up the corrupt local mess.
Heavily armed FBI agents swarmed the stairs, placing Clara in heavy steel handcuffs as she cursed my family's name.
They dragged Glen aggressively off the stairs, reading him his rights for grand larceny, kidnapping, and fraud.
Glen looked back at me, pathetically begging for my forgiveness and claiming he was entirely brainwashed.
I turned my back on him completely, shielding Ariel’s eyes from the pathetic man who used to be her father.
My dad rushed onto the tarmac, wrapping his strong arms around both me and his beautiful granddaughter.
An FBI agent approached us, holding Clara’s expensive designer purse that he had recovered from the jet.
He told my father that the offshore accounts had already been entirely frozen and the stolen money was safe.

Then the agent held up the two fake passports they had found hidden in Clara's bag.
Neither of the passports contained a picture of Glen.
