Chapter 7 - The Kidnapping

The diner doors burst open, and three men in dark suits stormed directly toward our booth.

I tried to stand up and run, but one of the men grabbed my arm with terrifying strength.

He flashed a gold badge and quietly told me to cooperate if I wanted to live.

They were not Russian syndicate thugs coming to kill me.

They were federal agents from the FBI, and they dragged me forcefully out to their waiting van.

They threw me into the back seat and sped away before anyone in the diner could even call the police.

A sharp-looking man in a grey suit sat across from me and introduced himself as Agent Vance.

He told me that I was currently the prime suspect in a massive international money laundering investigation.

I aggressively denied the accusations and told him I had just turned eighteen two days ago.

Agent Vance opened a thick manila folder and showed me dozens of offshore bank documents.

Every single document was signed with my perfect, exact signature.

My father had been forging my name on illegal accounts for years to shield himself from federal scrutiny.

Vance explained that if I did not cooperate with their investigation, I would spend the rest of my life in federal prison.

I laughed bitterly and told him that my father had already ruined my life completely.

I explained that the Russian syndicate was actively hunting me for a murder my brother committed.

Agent Vance did not look surprised by my revelation about the syndicate.

He reached into his briefcase and pulled out a very old, yellowed piece of parchment paper.

He handed it to me and watched my facial expression very closely.

It was a highly classified legal document drafted and signed by my late grandfather.

The document stated that my grandfather had secretly been an FBI informant for over twenty years.

He had orchestrated the offshore accounts to gather irrefutable evidence against my corrupt father.

And he had left a binding, ironclad immunity deal that protected me from all prosecution if I helped the Bureau.

Agent Vance leaned forward and asked if I was finally ready to take my family down.
