Chapter 8 - The Interrogation Room

The cold metal handcuffs dug painfully into my wrists as I sat in the local police precinct.
The sterile grey walls felt like a concrete cage slowly closing in on me.
I had been sitting in the windowless room for over three hours without a single update.
The heavy door finally opened, but it was not my attorney who walked inside.
Julian entered the room, looking incredibly triumphant and wearing a fresh suit.
He sat across from me, folding his hands casually on the metal table.
He explained that he had anticipated my defensive moves weeks in advance.
He had paid a digital hacker to plant the fabricated financial evidence entirely on my personal server.
The flash drive Camila used was actually a trojan horse designed to trigger the police warrant.
He offered to drop all the charges against me if I completely surrendered the company.
He also demanded I grant him a quiet, uncontested divorce where he kept all the remaining assets.
I looked down at the concrete floor, pretending to be completely defeated by his brilliant trap.
Just as Julian smiled, the precinct door swung open with extreme force.

The lead detective walked back in, holding a digital tablet and looking directly at my husband.
"Mr. Sterling, we just received security footage showing you tampering with the company servers," the detective announced.
