Chapter 7 - The Master Wipe

The armored federal transport vehicle sped through the waking city streets, completely bypassing all the morning traffic lights.
Inside the back of the transport, I watched Elena's tablet intensely as the malicious progress bar slowly crept toward one hundred percent.
"Derek has officially plugged the drive into the primary terminal," I announced, watching the data packets flood into our secure cloud.
Every single forged invoice, illegal wire transfer, and fraudulent medical record was now safely locked in an unalterable federal database.
"The duplication is fully complete, and the Trojan horse is now initiating the visual illusion of a master system wipe," Elena confirmed.
On Derek's end, his computer screens would currently be flashing terrifying warning signs as fake deletion prompts filled his monitors.
He would genuinely believe that my precious evidence drive had tragically malfunctioned and destroyed all the proof of his crimes forever.
We pulled up to the towering glass facade of my father's construction company just as the clock struck eight in the morning.
The lobby was bustling with employees, none of whom had any idea that their beloved company was being gutted from the inside.
"We need to move quickly and quietly before his private security team alerts him to our presence," the federal commander instructed.
A dozen undercover agents dressed in sharp business suits seamlessly blended into the morning crowd as we entered the grand lobby.
We bypassed the main security desk by utilizing my personal executive keycard, which Derek had arrogantly forgotten to deactivate.
The private elevator swiftly carried us to the top floor, where the luxurious executive boardroom overlooked the entire sprawling city.
I could hear Derek's smooth, charismatic voice echoing through the heavy oak doors as he addressed the wealthy investors inside.
"My wife's sudden, tragic mental decline has been devastating for our family, but the future of this company remains incredibly bright."
The absolute audacity of his disgusting lies made my blood boil, but I forced my breathing to remain perfectly calm and steady.
I placed my hand firmly on the cool brass handle of the boardroom door, ready to completely obliterate his entire world.
I pushed the heavy doors wide open, stepping boldly into the room with the federal commander and my attorney right behind me.
The entire room fell into a stunned, deafening silence as all eyes turned to the bruised woman standing in the doorway.
Derek froze mid-sentence, the laser pointer slipping from his trembling hand and clattering loudly onto the polished mahogany table.
"I am so sorry to interrupt this beautiful presentation, darling," I said, my voice dripping with absolute, venomous sarcasm.
Marlene stood up from her leather chair in the corner, her face turning incredibly pale as she realized I had survived the alleyway.
"Security, remove this insane woman from the building immediately!" Derek shouted, frantically pressing the panic button under his desk.
"Your security team is currently sitting in federal custody, Derek," the commander announced, flashing his gold FBI badge for the entire room.

Derek let out a sudden, chilling laugh that deeply unsettled everyone sitting around the massive boardroom table.
"You are too late, because I just successfully wiped the entire master server and permanently deleted all of your supposed evidence."
