Chapter 10 - The Next Aunt

I drove us completely off the grid, navigating through abandoned industrial roads to avoid any surveillance cameras.

David used his emergency medical kit to tightly bandage his bleeding side, his face pale but determined.

We finally arrived at an incredibly secure, underground bunker that I had secretly maintained for emergencies.

I engaged the heavy titanium locks, completely sealing us away from the corrupted outside world.

The bunker was fully stocked with food, medical supplies, and an untraceable satellite communication system.

I immediately contacted a trusted journalist friend to leak the entire horrific conspiracy to the national press.

By morning, the Mayor, the Chief, and the entire corrupt federal strike team would be exposed and arrested.

The syndicate was effectively dismantled, and the immediate threat to our lives was completely neutralized.

I felt a profound, overwhelming sense of victory and absolute relief wash over my exhausted body.

I gently carried Lily into the warm, quiet bedroom and tucked her safely under a thick woolen blanket.

I smiled softly at the brave little girl who had inadvertently brought down an entire empire of monsters.

Lily smiled back at me, her face looking perfectly innocent and completely devoid of any fear.

She slowly unzipped her small, battered backpack and reached her tiny hand inside.

She pulled out a brand-new, glowing green plastic cup and held it out toward me.

Lily looked at me with incredibly cold, dead eyes and whispered that the boss was very happy I had eliminated all the competition for him.

A tall man stepped slowly out of the dark shadows of the bunker's private bathroom.

I completely froze in absolute terror as I recognized the face of my husband, who had supposedly died in a car crash five years ago.

He smiled wickedly, gently took the green cup from Lily's hands, and whispered that it was finally time for the Next Aunt to go to sleep forever.
