Chapter 3 - The Secret Bracelet

The heavy rain battered the windshield of my SUV as we drove safely away from that nightmare house.

Sarah sat quietly in the passenger seat, gently holding the hands of her sleeping children in the back row.

I kept the thirty-thousand-dollar jewelry receipt completely hidden deep inside my coat pocket.

I knew absolutely that telling her about the diamond bracelet tonight would entirely break her fragile, healing spirit.

We arrived at my sprawling estate, and my household staff quickly helped settle the exhausted children into warm, comfortable guest rooms.

I poured Sarah a large glass of expensive red wine and tucked her safely into a plush, king-sized bed.

I promised her that she was completely safe here and that nobody would ever mistreat her again.

Once she finally drifted into a deep, peaceful sleep, I marched directly into my private home office.

I locked the heavy mahogany door and aggressively slammed the crumpled jewelry receipt onto my polished desk.

I recognized the name of the boutique instantly, as I was one of their most exclusive, high-profile clients.

I picked up my phone and called the private cell number of the boutique owner, ignoring the late hour.

The owner quickly answered and nervously confirmed that Mark had indeed purchased the diamond tennis bracelet today.

I coldly demanded to know the exact name and address of the woman who received the expensive delivery.

The owner hesitated for a terrified second before finally whispering a name that made my blood boil.

The expensive diamond bracelet had been directly delivered to a woman named Jessica Vance.

Jessica Vance was the ambitious, incredibly ruthless Vice President of Marketing at my very own company.

My pathetic son was actively carrying on a highly expensive affair with one of my top executive employees.

He was using the money he aggressively withheld from his struggling wife to shower his arrogant mistress with diamonds.

I poured myself a glass of bourbon and stared intensely at the glowing city skyline through my office window.

I realized that Mark had completely underestimated the terrifying lengths a mother would go to protect her grandchildren.

I carefully formulated a flawless, highly strategic plan to completely destroy his fake, arrogant life.

The very next morning, Sarah woke up looking incredibly refreshed and absolutely ready for her first day of work.

I drove her to the corporate office, feeling a massive surge of pride as she walked confidently into the building.

I introduced Sarah to the executive team as my new administrative coordinator, intentionally walking her right past Jessica’s desk.

Jessica smiled a fake, overly sweet smile, entirely unaware that I knew she was sleeping with my son.

Just before lunch, my office phone rang with an urgent, panicked call from the main security desk downstairs.

The security guard nervously reported that Mark had just aggressively bypassed the front lobby checkpoints.

He was currently storming through the building, violently screaming Sarah’s name and completely terrifying the staff.
