Chapter 9 - The Boardroom Coup

Two weeks later.
The annual shareholder meeting for Thorne Industries was being held in the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in New York. Julian was sitting in a federal prison cell, denied bail, facing life behind bars.
But the board of directors was in chaos. They believed the company was unstable.
The massive double doors of the ballroom swung open.
Dominic Thorne walked in. He wore a razor-sharp charcoal suit, exuding absolute, terrifying power. But he wasn't alone.
Walking beside him, holding his hand, was Clara. She wore a stunning crimson dress, looking every bit the billionaire’s wife she had always been.
The room fell dead silent.
Dominic took the podium.
"For four years, rumors have circulated about my absence. About the stability of this company," Dominic projected, his voice echoing through the massive room. "My brother, Julian Thorne, attempted to destroy my family to steal this empire. He failed."
He looked at the board members. "Thorne Industries is not built on deceit. It is built on legacy. I am officially returning as the sole CEO of this company."
A murmur of shock rippled through the crowd.
"Furthermore," Dominic said, looking down at Clara with a smile that melted the icy demeanor he was known for. "I am placing fifty percent of my voting shares into a blind trust, overseen by my wife, Clara Thorne. And the sole beneficiary of that trust..."
The doors opened again. Marcus walked in, holding a little boy with piercing steel-gray eyes wearing a tiny tuxedo.
