Chapter 10 - Anchor in the Storm

Six months had passed since the boardroom coup.
The coastal town in Maine was quiet, the harbor waters reflecting the golden hues of the setting sun. Clara stood on the porch of her cottage, holding a mug of tea.
Dominic stepped out behind her, wrapping his strong arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder.
"The architects sent the blueprints for the new house in Manhattan," Dominic murmured, kissing her neck. "It has a massive playroom for Leo. And a soundproof office for you."
Clara leaned back against him, smiling. "I still want to keep this cottage, Dom. This is where we found our way back to each other."
"Whatever you want, Mrs. Thorne. I’ll buy the whole town if it makes you happy."
Down on the grass, Leo was running around with a golden retriever puppy Dominic had bought him for his fifth birthday. The sound of the little boy’s laughter echoed over the sound of the crashing waves.
Clara turned in Dominic’s arms, looking up into the face of the man she had loved, lost, and found again.
"We survived the storm," she whispered.

Dominic cupped her face, his thumb tracing her cheekbone. "You were my anchor, Clara. You always have been."
He kissed her, deep and full of a love that had weathered the darkest of betrayals. The lies were dead. The enemies were locked away. And the Thorne family was finally, permanently, whole.
