Chapter 3 - The Birthmark

The luxurious mansion was heavily fortified, surrounded by high concrete walls and dozens of armed guards.
Damian led me into a massive, warm nursery where two nannies were waiting to tend to the children.
I felt a sharp pang of jealousy as another woman took the little girl from Damian's strong arms.
I desperately needed to prove to him, and to myself, that these were actually my stolen children.
"When I was pregnant, the doctors noticed something unique on my ultrasound," I blurted out suddenly.
Damian stopped in the doorway and turned to face me, his expression completely unreadable.
"What exactly did they notice?" he asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
"A tiny, star-shaped birthmark on the back of the oldest boy's left heel," I explained breathlessly.
Damian stared at me for a long moment before gesturing for the nanny to bring the oldest boy forward.
My hands shook violently as I gently took off the little boy's tiny blue sock.
There, stamped onto his soft skin, was the unmistakable brown star-shaped mark I had dreamed about for over a year.
Tears spilled out of my eyes and ran down my cheeks as I pressed a kiss to his small foot.
"They really are mine," I sobbed, collapsing onto the soft carpet of the nursery.
Damian dismissed the nannies with a sharp wave of his hand, leaving us entirely alone with the triplets.
"This means someone orchestrated an elaborate kidnapping, faked their deaths, and sold them to me," Damian said coldly.
He began pacing the room, the terrifying aura of a mafia boss radiating from his every movement.
"No one crosses my family like this and lives to talk about it," he promised, his voice dripping with venom.
Just then, the heavy oak door of the nursery swung open without a simple knock.
A tall, menacing man with a cruel smile stepped into the room, flanked by two armed men.
Damian tensed immediately, sliding his hand toward the hidden holster under his suit jacket.

"Hello, little brother," the man sneered, looking down at the children with absolute disgust.
"I told you buying those brats was a mistake, and now the police are asking questions about the hospital."
