Chapter 8 - The Sinking Ship
The massive yacht groaned in agony as freezing seawater rushed into the lower hull.
I left Kolov bleeding on the floor to drown in his own failure.
I sprinted down the narrow, tilting corridors toward the engine room.
The emergency red lights flickered wildly as the ship began to list heavily to the starboard side.
I reached the reinforced steel door of the engine room and found it locked from the outside.
I ordered Marco to plant a breaching charge on the heavy hinges.
We took cover behind a metal bulkhead as the explosives blew the door entirely off its frame.
I rushed inside and found the water was already rising past my knees.
Emma’s mother and brother were chained tightly to the heavy iron pipes near the failing generators.
The elderly woman was weeping, holding her son’s hand as the freezing water engulfed them.
I pulled a pair of heavy bolt cutters from my tactical rig and waded through the oily water.
I snapped the thick chains binding the mother first and handed her safely to Marco.
The water was rapidly rising to my chest as I worked desperately on the brother’s chains.
The metal snapped, and I pulled the young man away from the rusted pipes.
I grabbed his arm and dragged him through the flooded hallway toward the rear exit.
The ship lurched violently, nearly throwing us back into the rising abyss.
We burst onto the rear deck just as my men secured a high-speed extraction boat.
I pushed the mother and brother onto the boat and jumped aboard as Marco hit the throttle.
We sped away into the dark harbor just as the luxury yacht slipped entirely beneath the black waves.
I collapsed onto the wooden bench, breathing heavily, completely drained of adrenaline.
I looked over at the brother, wrapping a thermal blanket tightly around his shivering shoulders.

The young man casually complained about how freezing the water was on his legs.
I froze completely as I watched him casually flex and rub both of his perfectly healthy, muscular calves.
