Chapter 6 - The Desperate Play

Vincent knew his time was rapidly running out.

He could not fight a house full of armed, treacherous men from a wheelchair.

He needed to protect his immense fortune before they managed to kill him.

He reached under the armrest of his customized wheelchair and pressed a hidden button.

A small compartment slid open, revealing a titanium biometric flash drive.

He handed the drive to Tessa.

Vincent explained that this drive contained the access keys to his master ghost account.

He instructed her to go to his private bank downtown immediately.

She needed to initiate a total asset transfer, moving his billions out of the syndicate's reach.

Tessa took the drive, asking fearfully what would happen to him while she was gone.

Vincent promised he would buy her enough time to complete the transaction.

Tessa slipped the drive into her uniform pocket and hurried out of the room.

Vincent sat alone in the quiet bedroom, waiting for the inevitable confrontation.

Ten minutes later, the heavy bedroom door clicked shut and the deadbolt slid into place.

Lauren stepped out of the master bathroom shadows.

She was no longer pretending to be a loving fiancée.

She held a large, medical-grade syringe filled with a cloudy fluid.

Lauren smiled a cold, terrifying smile.

She told Vincent it was time for his pain medication.
