Chapter 8 - Blood in the Water

The remarkably powerful recoil of the handgun knocked Claire violently backward onto the rough pier.
Jeremy dropped his weapon instantly, fiercely clutching his profusely bleeding thigh in pure, blinding agony.
He collapsed entirely onto the wooden planks, screaming utterly hysterically into the freezing, cold night air.
Marcus rushed forward incredibly swiftly, violently kicking Jeremy's dropped gun extremely far into the dark ocean.
He securely restrained the crying traitor with heavy zip ties, completely ignoring his pathetic, desperate pleas for mercy.
Claire ignored Jeremy entirely and scrambled completely desperately back to Adrian's bleeding side.
Adrian was breathing incredibly heavily, his remarkably expensive suit jacket completely soaked in dark red blood.
"You actually shot him, honey," Adrian whispered weakly, a remarkably proud smile forming on his pale lips.
Claire rapidly tore the expensive silk lining of her jacket to forcefully apply massive pressure to his severe wound.
"Please do absolutely not try to talk, you are losing a massive amount of blood," she sobbed frantically.
Marcus quickly grabbed Lily and safely brought the utterly terrified girl securely into Claire's waiting arms.
The two sisters held each other incredibly tightly, crying massive tears of absolute relief and lingering terror.
"We heavily need to get the boss safely to the underground clinic right now," Marcus announced highly urgently.
He effortlessly lifted Adrian's incredibly heavy frame and successfully carried him toward the armored extraction vehicle.
Claire followed extremely closely, holding her little sister's trembling hand tightly as they rapidly abandoned the bloody pier.
They drove extremely aggressively through the dark city streets, literally breaking absolutely every traffic law in existence.
The secret underground medical facility was brightly lit and fully staffed with entirely private, fiercely loyal doctors.
They immediately wheeled Adrian directly into a sterile emergency surgery room, forcing Claire to remain in the waiting area.
Agonizing hours passed by in absolute silence while Claire rapidly paced the incredibly cold linoleum floor.
Finally, the lead surgeon slowly emerged from the double doors with his surgical mask fully pulled down.
"We successfully removed the bullet, but his blood pressure is unfortunately dropping dangerously fast," the doctor said gravely.

Suddenly, the clinic's loud emergency alarm blared violently, flashing bright red lights wildly across the hallway.
"The entire Petrov syndicate just forcefully breached the outer security gates," a completely panicked nurse screamed from the lobby.
