Chapter 2 - The Billionaire Heiress

Julian stared at the ominous red ink until his vision blurred.
He checked his heavy steel wristwatch and realized it was already ten o'clock at night.
He had exactly two hours to find the woman in the photograph and save her life.
He quickly recognized the marble staircase in the background of the picture.
It belonged to the Grand Continental Hotel located in the wealthiest district of the city.
Julian sprinted to his beat-up muscle car and sped through the neon-lit streets.
He parked in a dark alleyway and slipped past the armed security guards at the hotel's loading dock.
He stole a black waiter's uniform from the laundry room and entered the grand ballroom.
The room was filled with the city's elite sipping expensive champagne under a massive crystal chandelier.
Julian scanned the glittering crowd and suddenly stopped dead in his tracks.
Standing near the balcony was the woman from the photograph wearing a stunning emerald gown.
Julian pushed through the sea of wealthy socialites with his heart pounding in his chest.
He stepped directly in front of her and gently whispered the name Elena.
The woman looked at him with an expression of sheer confusion and mild annoyance.
She politely informed him that her name was Victoria Sterling and she had no idea who he was.
Julian desperately tried to remind her of the cosmos flowers and the St. Jude orphanage.
Victoria took a step back and her beautiful face twisted into genuine fear.
She raised her hand and signaled for the massive security team standing by the doors.
Julian realized with absolute horror that she was not pretending to forget him.
Her childhood memories had been completely and systematically erased by the Sterling family.

Four heavily armed guards rushed forward and grabbed Julian by his shoulders.
Victoria looked at him coldly and ordered the men to take him down to the basement for interrogation.
