Chapter 8 - The Voice in the Dark

Norah stepped behind Sebastian, her hand gripping the small revolver hidden in her pocket.
She whispered desperately into Sebastian's ear, telling him that Marcus was the mole who had been working with Vance.
Sebastian stiffened, but his face remained perfectly calm as he looked at his oldest friend.
Marcus noticed the tension, forcing a confused smile and asking if something was wrong.
Sebastian casually walked over to the weapon rack, acting as if nothing had changed.
He asked Marcus how the Moretti family knew he was going to be at the Blue Pine tonight.
Marcus hesitated for a fraction of a second, claiming it was probably just bad luck.
That slight hesitation was all the proof Sebastian needed to trust Norah's instincts.
In a blindingly fast motion, Sebastian spun around and shot Marcus directly in the right kneecap.
Marcus collapsed with a scream, his hand frantically reaching for the pistol holstered at his waist.
Norah drew her revolver, pointing it at the traitor on the floor.
Sebastian stood over Marcus, his eyes blazing with a terrifying, cold fury.
He demanded to know where the Morettis were holding Norah's sister.
Marcus laughed through his pain, spitting blood onto the concrete floor.
He mocked Sebastian, calling him weak for trusting a random waitress over his own blood brother.
Marcus reached into his tactical vest, but instead of pulling a gun, he pulled out a small electronic remote.
He looked at Sebastian with a twisted, manic grin.
He pressed the red button on the remote before Sebastian could stop him.
A loud mechanical siren began to blare, and thick steel blast doors violently slammed shut over the only exit.

A computerized voice echoed through the safehouse, announcing a self-destruct protocol had been initiated.
They had exactly sixty seconds to get out before the entire warehouse was incinerated.
