Chapter 7 - The Security Chief

The dim emergency lights of the underground garage flickered, casting long shadows across Vincent’s face.

The man who had protected Dominic for five years was standing beside the armored SUV with a calm, dead expression.

Dominic brought his wheelchair to a halt, his own pistol resting loosely in his lap.

He looked at the duffel bag of money in Vincent's hand and let out a quiet sigh of disappointment.

He asked Vincent how much Leo Moretti had paid for his absolute loyalty.

Vincent did not blink, keeping his weapon perfectly steady.

He said it was not about money, but about survival.

He explained that after Dominic lost his legs, the entire criminal underworld smelled blood in the water.

Vincent believed the Corso family was doomed, and he simply wanted to secure a future for his own children.

Fay stood frozen behind the wheelchair, her hands gripping the rubber handles tightly.

She knew if Vincent pulled the trigger, there was absolutely nowhere for them to run.

Dominic did not beg for his life, nor did he yell in anger.

He calmly reminded Vincent that the armored SUV required a retinal scan to start the engine.

He told his traitorous chief that the millions of dollars in the bag would mean nothing if he could not escape the garage.

Vincent smirked, reaching into his pocket with his free hand.

He pulled out a small, bloody plastic bag and tossed it onto the concrete floor between them.

Inside the bag was a severed human eye.

Vincent coldly stated that he had already visited the estate's head accountant before coming to the garage.

Fay turned her head, fighting the sudden urge to vomit.

Dominic stared at the gruesome object, his face hardening into a mask of pure stone.

He realized Vincent had planned this coup meticulously for months.

Vincent ordered Fay to step away from the wheelchair and walk toward the concrete wall.

He said he only needed to eliminate Dominic to fulfill his contract with Moretti.

Fay looked down at the top of Dominic’s head, her heart racing frantically.

Dominic subtly tapped his right finger against the armrest of his chair, a silent command he had used with his men.

Fay understood instantly.

She pretended to stumble backward, kicking a metal bucket across the floor to create a loud, echoing distraction.

Vincent's eyes darted toward the noise for a fraction of a second.

It was all the time Dominic needed.

He raised his weapon with lightning speed and fired two shots directly into Vincent's chest.

The security chief collapsed against the side of the armored vehicle, sliding down to the blood-stained floor.

The silence returned to the garage, heavy and suffocating.

Dominic lowered his gun, his breathing ragged and uneven.

He looked at Fay and told her to grab the duffel bag and open the passenger door.

May you like

As Fay reached for the handle, a blinding spotlight suddenly flooded the garage from the exit ramp.

Three black vans crashed through the security gates, completely trapping them inside the concrete bunker.
