Chapter 9 - The Blind Escape

The server room plunged into absolute chaos as the thick, white gas completely destroyed all visibility.

Diana screamed in frustration and fired blindly into the fog, the bullets shattering the glass server racks.

Daniel dropped to his hands and knees, grabbing Grace's hand firmly.

"Stay low, the gas is lighter than air," Daniel whispered, crawling rapidly toward the exit.

Vance coughed violently in the smoke, swinging his shotgun blindly like a club.

The heavy weapon struck Daniel's injured shoulder, sending a shockwave of blinding pain through his body.

Daniel gritted his teeth, grabbed Vance's leg, and yanked the massive security chief to the floor.

He delivered a brutal punch to Vance's jaw, knocking the man unconscious in the thick gas.

Daniel pulled Grace and Maya out into the clear air of the hallway.

"We have to get to the roof," Daniel coughed, slamming the server room doors shut to trap Diana inside.

They sprinted up the final three flights of emergency stairs, bursting out into the freezing night air.

The rooftop helipad was illuminated by the flashing lights of police helicopters circling the building.

Daniel had triggered the silent FBI alarm before hitting the gas suppression button.

Dozens of heavily armed federal agents poured out of the stairwell, weapons drawn and flashlights sweeping the roof.

"Drop your weapons!" the lead agent roared over the sound of the helicopter blades.

Daniel raised his hands slowly, holding up the data drive for everyone to see.

"My name is Daniel Whitfield, and I have the evidence you need," Daniel shouted.

The nightmare was finally over.

Diana and the remaining guards were dragged out in handcuffs, screaming threats as they were arrested.

Paramedics rushed onto the roof to tend to Grace's shoulder and Maya's frozen hands.
