Chapter 6 - The Traitor's Blood

The negotiation meeting lasted for three agonizing hours.
Maya translated every subtle insult and hidden threat with flawless precision.
She managed to keep her voice steady despite the massive panic attack building in her chest.
When the meeting finally adjourned Dominic praised her performance.
He left the room to escort the cartel bosses to the courtyard.
Maya immediately rushed down the back hallway to find a private bathroom.
Someone grabbed her aggressively by the arm and yanked her into a dark storage closet.
Her father slammed her against the wall and covered her mouth with his rough hand.
He smelled of stale tobacco and cheap wine just like he had in her childhood.
He whispered that she had grown up to be very beautiful and very useful.
He demanded that she sneak into Dominic's private office and steal the syndicate ledger tonight.
Maya shoved him away and quietly spat that she owed him absolutely nothing.
Her father smiled cruelly and pulled out a small black device.
He said he had already bribed one of the estate guards to place a remote explosive under Sophie's hospital bed.
He promised to push the button if Maya did not bring him the ledger by midnight.
Maya felt hot tears of pure rage spill over her eyelashes.
She realized her father was not just a coward but an absolute monster.
She pushed past him and walked straight into Dominic's private study.
Dominic was sitting at his desk cleaning a matte black pistol.
Maya did not hesitate.
She told him exactly who the man in the shadows was and what he had threatened to do.
Dominic's face turned to absolute stone.
He stood up and handed the heavy loaded pistol directly to Maya.
He told her that in his world loyalty was proven with blood and never with words.
He pulled open the study door to reveal her father kneeling on the floor with a bag over his head.
The scarred enforcer was standing behind him with a shotgun.
Dominic told Maya to point the gun at the traitor and pull the trigger.
May you like
He whispered that if she could not do it she was not strong enough to survive at his side.
Maya raised the shaking pistol and aimed it directly at the man who had ruined her life.
