Chapter 5 - The Assassin's Return

The steel door blew entirely off its hinges, filling the clinic with thick, choking smoke.

Gabriel reached for his weapon, but Claire gently pushed his hand down.

"Keep your eyes on the baby, let me handle my former colleagues," she instructed calmly.

Claire moved like a ghost, disappearing completely into the thick cloud of gray smoke.

Five heavily armed hitmen entered the room, their laser sights sweeping through the haze.

A sickening crunch echoed through the clinic as Claire dropped from the ceiling and snapped the first man's neck.

She snatched a surgical scalpel from a metal tray and moved with terrifying, fluid grace.

Gabriel watched in absolute awe as the woman he loved dismantled the elite kill squad in under a minute.

She used pure martial arts and brutal efficiency, never wasting a single movement.

When the smoke finally cleared, all five men were bleeding out on the linoleum floor.

Claire walked back to Gabriel, her clothes covered in blood that did not belong to her.

"We need to leave before Cross sends the second wave," she said, breathing heavily.

They unhooked Eli from the machines and escaped through a hidden ventilation shaft.

They climbed out into a deserted alleyway just as the clinic erupted in flames behind them.

Gabriel walked toward their hidden getaway car, but he stopped dead in his tracks.

A white envelope was pinned to the windshield with a massive hunting knife.

Gabriel pulled the knife free and opened the letter with trembling hands.

The note was written by Damian Cross, and the words made Gabriel's blood run completely cold.

"Bring me the baby, Kane, or I will kill my runaway wife."
