Chapter 9 - The Reckoning

The broadcast was an execution.

Julian looked directly into the camera, his bespoke suit ruined, his face bruised, but his eyes burning with absolute clarity.

"For twenty-six years, I believed I was the heir to the Valerius Empire," Julian announced to the world. "Today, I found out I was a pawn in a monster's game."

Elara took over, presenting the digital ledgers, the offshore routing numbers, and the forensic proof of her mother’s murder. The anchor displayed the documents on the screen behind them.

Within minutes, Wall Street reacted. The stock of Valerius Holdings plummeted by forty percent. Silas Thorne’s hedge fund was instantly frozen by the SEC.

Back in the amber-lit atrium of the Valerius Tower, Marcus watched the broadcast on his tablet. His face was a mask of absolute horror. The empire he had murdered for, the legacy he had built on blood and lies, was evaporating in real-time.

Federal vehicles crashed onto the pristine plaza outside the tower. Dozens of FBI tactical agents flooded into the grand lobby, shattering the illusion of the untouchable sanctuary.

Marcus didn't try to run. He sat in one of the imported leather armchairs as the agents surrounded him, clicking cold steel handcuffs over his wrists. The solo cello music playing in the background felt like a funeral dirge for the king.
