Chapter 3 - The Concrete Jungle

Julian was thrown out of the Valerius Tower like trash.

He stood on the rain-slicked pavement, the towering monolith of black onyx looming above him, locking him out. His credit cards were instantly deactivated. His phone was wiped clean by the company's remote servers. He had fifty dollars in cash in his pocket and the clothes on his back.

For three days, Julian Valerius—the billionaire prince—lived on the unpolished, grimy streets he had spent his life mocking. He slept in a 24-hour diner, nursing a single cup of black coffee, his bespoke suit wrinkled and stained.

The hunger was a gnawing physical pain, but the betrayal was a bullet to the chest.

On the fourth night, a sleek black Mercedes pulled up to the curb outside the diner. The back door opened. Elara sat in the shadows.

"Get in," she ordered.

Julian, exhausted and desperate, climbed into the car. He expected her to gloat. Instead, Elara looked at him with a strange mix of pity and fierce determination.

"Marcus didn't just throw you out," Elara said, handing him a hot coffee and a thick file folder. "He is trying to legally declare me mentally incompetent so he can retain control of the trust. But he’s backed by Silas Thorne, the city’s most corrupt hedge-fund manager. Thorne wants to liquidate Valerius Tower and sell it for parts."

"Why are you telling me this?" Julian sneered, sipping the coffee desperately.

"Because you know the building's security grid, Julian," Elara said, locking eyes with him. "Marcus murdered my mother. He erased your entire identity. If we don't stop him, Thorne will strip the company, and Marcus will disappear to a non-extradition country with billions. Help me break into the Tower, and I’ll give you a ten percent stake in the new empire."

Julian looked at the neon lights reflecting off the wet windows. He wasn't a prince anymore. But he could be a kingmaker.

"Deal," Julian whispered.
