Chapter 1 - The Collision

Julian Valerius stood in the center of the amber-lit atrium, adjusting the cuffs of his bespoke Tom Ford suit. At twenty-six, he was the crown prince of the Valerius Empire, a global real estate conglomerate. He looked at the billionaires drifting past him with the bored superiority of a king watching his subjects.
Then, the collision happened.
She didn't stumble. She didn't trip. She walked directly into Julian’s chest with the force of a battering ram.
Julian’s crystal glass of scotch shattered against the flawless onyx floor. He stumbled backward, his aristocratic composure cracking. He glared at the woman. She was dressed in a simple, damp beige trench coat—an absolute violation of the Valerius dress code.
"Watch where you’re going, you insolent—" Julian began, raising a hand to summon security.
"Shut up, Julian," the woman interrupted, her voice a low, lethal hum that cut through the cello music.
Julian froze. Nobody spoke to him like that. He looked closer. She had striking, piercing green eyes—the exact shade of his father’s.
She reached into her trench coat and pulled out a heavy, wax-sealed envelope. She didn't hand it to him; she shoved it brutally into his chest.

"My name is Elara," she said, her voice dripping with venom. "And I think it's time you found out that the throne you're sitting on belongs to a ghost. Give that to Marcus. Tell him his firstborn daughter says hello."
Before Julian could call the guards, she turned and melted into the crowd, leaving Julian standing in a puddle of scotch, staring at a seal bearing the original, forgotten crest of the Valerius bloodline.
