Chapter 10 - The True Sovereign

Six months later.
The grand atrium of the Valerius Tower was bathed in a warm, natural sunlight. The oppressive, amber tint had been removed.
Elara Valerius stood in the center of the room, wearing a sharp, tailored white suit. She was the undisputed CEO and majority shareholder of the newly rebranded Vanguard Real Estate. Silas Thorne and Marcus Valerius were sitting in a federal penitentiary, awaiting trial for a litany of federal crimes.
Julian walked through the revolving glass doors. He wasn't wearing a bespoke suit. He wore dark jeans, a simple button-down shirt, and a leather jacket. He looked rested. He looked free.
Elara smiled, walking over to meet him. "The board approved your ten percent stake. You're officially a billionaire again, Julian."
"Keep it," Julian said softly.
Elara frowned. "What? Julian, it’s yours. You earned it."
"I don't want it, Elara," Julian replied, looking around the towering onyx pillars. "I spent my entire life thinking this building was my identity. When I lost it, I thought I was nothing. But out there, in the real world... I finally figured out who I am when I'm not playing a prince."
He handed her a signed legal document—a full transfer of his shares into a charitable trust designed to build affordable housing in the city's poorest districts.
"I'm leaving the city," Julian smiled, a genuine, warm expression that had never existed on the face of the arrogant heir. "I’m going to build something of my own. From the ground up."
Elara looked at the document, then up at the man who had been her enemy, her partner, and ultimately, her savior. She reached out and hugged him fiercely.
"Thank you, Julian," she whispered.

"Rule well, Elara," Julian said, pulling away.
Julian turned and walked out of the grand lobby. He stepped out into the chaotic, unrefined, unpredictable grime of the city streets. And for the first time in his life, he felt exactly where he belonged.
