Chapter 8 - The True Fortune

"The Icarus Protocol is a scorched-earth financial defense system," I explained to the stunned FBI agent.
"It instantly freezes all shell companies, flags every forged transaction, and provides the federal government with undeniable proof of unauthorized access."
Agent Harrison quickly reviewed the new data rapidly appearing on his secured tablet.
The evidence Elias's shadow firm provided was entirely irrefutable.
It clearly showed Arthur's IP address logging into the cartel accounts and Mia's signature on the fraudulent loan documents.
"They set you up to take the fall for their cartel debt," Harrison finally admitted, unlocking my handcuffs.
"Where are they right now?" I asked, rubbing my sore wrists.
"The federal tracking system shows they are currently at the private executive airfield on the edge of the city," he replied.
"They are trying to flee the country before the cartel realizes the wire transfers have been frozen."
I stood up from the cold metal chair, feeling a surge of unstoppable determination.
"I am going to that airfield with you, Agent Harrison."
He hesitated for a second before nodding sharply and leading me out of the interrogation room.
We climbed into a black armored SUV and sped toward the private airfield with the sirens blaring.
We arrived at the tarmac just as a sleek, white Gulfstream jet began its final taxi toward the main runway.
Dozens of armed federal agents swarmed the area, completely surrounding the massive aircraft.
I stepped out of the SUV and walked boldly toward the boarding stairs that had not yet been retracted.
Standing on the tarmac near the wheels of the plane was my former mother-in-law, Victoria.
She was frantically clutching her designer purse, screaming violently at the closed door of the jet.
"Arthur, open this door right now and let me on the plane!" Victoria shrieked hysterically.
She turned and saw me approaching, her face twisting into a mask of pure desperation and rage.
"He took my money!" she sobbed, completely abandoning her arrogant aristocratic persona.
"He emptied my personal retirement accounts and left me here to face the police!"
I looked at the pathetic woman who had spent years treating me like absolute garbage.
"Arthur never cared about anyone but himself, Victoria," I told her coldly.
Suddenly, the heavy door of the private jet swung open, and Arthur stepped out with his hands raised in the air.
Mia stood right behind him, trembling with fear as a dozen laser sights painted red dots across their chests.
Agent Harrison stepped forward with a heavy megaphone.
"Arthur and Mia Vance, you are officially under arrest for international wire fraud and attempted murder."
Arthur looked down at me from the top of the stairs, his arrogant facade finally shattered into a million pieces.
May you like
He had completely lost everything, and he knew I was the one who had engineered his total destruction.
Before the federal agents could even read them their rights, the engines of the private jet suddenly erupted in a shower of sparks and black smoke.
