Chapter 4 - The Sister's Betrayal

I stared at the terrifying image of my younger sister until my vision began to blur.

I had not spoken to Mia in three years, not since she abruptly moved to Europe without any explanation.

"What has Arthur done to her?" I whispered, my hands shaking violently.

Victoria snatched the photograph back and placed it carefully into her expensive purse.

"Arthur has simply ensured that you will behave yourself while he finalizes his business transactions."

"If you or your son hurt a single hair on her head, I will destroy your entire family," I promised with absolute certainty.

Victoria just smiled condescendingly and adjusted her ridiculous sunhat.

"Arthur is waiting for you in the penthouse suite of the Grand Regent Hotel downtown."

She leaned in closer, her expensive perfume smelling entirely foul to me.

"I suggest you go to him right now and sign the master release forms for the rest of your little hidden trust."

I turned my back on her and ran frantically toward my waiting luxury sedan.

I ordered the driver to break every speed limit in the city to reach the Grand Regent Hotel.

My mind raced with desperate plans to rescue Mia from whatever nightmare Arthur had trapped her inside.

I arrived at the hotel and sprinted through the elegant lobby, ignoring the confused shouts of the concierge.

I rode the glass elevator to the top floor, my heart pounding violently against my ribs.

I reached the heavy mahogany doors of the penthouse suite and found them slightly ajar.

I pushed the doors open, ready to fight Arthur to the death to save my sister.

The suite was bathed in bright morning sunlight, and soft jazz music played from a high-end speaker.

I rushed into the main living area and instantly froze in my tracks.

Arthur was sitting on a velvet sofa, holding a glass of expensive champagne.

Sitting right next to him, completely untied and wearing a stunning silk robe, was my sister.

Mia was laughing softly at something Arthur had just said, holding her own glass of champagne.

She looked up and saw me standing in the doorway, completely paralyzed by shock.

"Hello, Clara," Mia said, her voice dripping with artificial sweetness.

"What is going on here?" I asked, my voice cracking under the weight of the betrayal.

Arthur stood up and casually buttoned his tailored suit jacket.

"Your sister and I have been working on this little financial project for a very long time."

"You helped him steal my money?" I asked Mia, completely unable to process the sheer cruelty of the situation.

Mia took a slow sip of her champagne and smiled coldly.

"You always had everything, Clara, while I was forced to beg grandfather for scraps."

Arthur walked toward a sleek wooden desk in the corner of the room and picked up a specialized digital tablet.

"The fifty million was just a test run to ensure we could bypass the bank's initial security protocols," Arthur explained.

He tossed the tablet onto the glass coffee table directly in front of me.

"Now, you are going to log into your master account and transfer the remaining nine hundred million dollars to us."

I glared at both of them, my initial shock rapidly transforming into a boiling, unstoppable rage.

"I will never give you the master passcodes," I told them fiercely.

Arthur sighed heavily and reached into the back waistband of his trousers.

He pulled out a heavy, matte-black pistol fitted with a long metal silencer and pointed it directly at my chest.
