Chapter 4 - The Garden Ambush

Daniel stared at the glowing computer screen in absolute, paralyzing horror.

Eleanor had been dead for a year, yet her digital signature was actively authorizing massive corporate theft as recently as yesterday.

Elara calmly suggested that they needed physical proof before going to the authorities, as the digital trail was perfectly forged.

Daniel realized he could no longer trust anyone in his entire organization, including his own private security team.

He asked Elara to take Sophie for a walk in the enclosed rose garden so he could secretly search Julian’s private suite.

Elara nodded bravely, placed the sleeping baby into an expensive modern stroller, and headed out into the crisp afternoon air.

The massive garden was a labyrinth of towering green hedges and ancient stone statues.

Elara pushed the stroller carefully, her sharp eyes constantly scanning the shadows between the thick bushes.

She heard a sudden snap of a dry twig echoing loudly from the pathway directly behind her.

She did not turn around, but instead cleverly used the reflective chrome of the stroller handle as a mirror.

A large man dressed entirely in black tactical gear was creeping silently toward them holding a heavy syringe.

Elara reacted with lightning speed and absolute precision.

She violently kicked the heavy brake pedal of the stroller, locking it securely in place.

She grabbed a heavy bronze gardening trowel that had been left carelessly on a nearby stone bench.

As the masked attacker lunged forward to grab the baby, Elara swung the solid metal tool with all her might.

The heavy bronze struck the man squarely on the side of his masked head with a sickening crack.

He stumbled backward, dropping the dangerous syringe into the dirt, and scrambled desperately away into the thick hedges.

Elara breathed heavily, her hands shaking as she pulled her personal cell phone out to call Daniel.

Before she could dial, she noticed a sleek black smartphone lying in the dirt where the attacker had fallen.

She picked it up and saw that the screen was unlocked and glowing brightly.

The last sent text message was addressed to Julian, confirming that the teenager and the baby were about to be permanently eliminated.
