Chapter 1 - The Corporate Trap

Adrian stood in the center of the silent lobby.
He stared at the forged death certificate in his trembling hands.
Charles Whitmore continued backing toward the locked glass elevators.
The older executive realized his thirty-two years of deception were finally unraveling.
Adrian dropped the envelope and took a slow step toward his mentor.
He asked Charles how much blood was actually on his hands.
Charles did not answer the question directly.
Instead, the older man reached inside his tailored suit jacket.
He pulled out a small black remote control with a single red button.
Martha gasped and pulled Adrian backward by his sleeve.
Charles smiled with a cold and terrifying emptiness in his eyes.
He announced that the Cole empire was built on sacrifices, and Adrian would simply be the last one.
Charles pressed the red button with his thumb.
The entire building instantly plunged into absolute darkness.
Thick steel security shutters slammed down over the glass lobby doors.
A mechanized voice echoed through the overhead speakers.
It declared a total biological lockdown of the first floor.
Charles stepped backward into a hidden executive elevator that operated on a separate power grid.

The doors closed smoothly, taking the treacherous executive to safety.
Adrian coughed as a thick, green chemical gas began pouring from the lobby ventilation shafts.
