Chapter 10 - The Dawn of Peace

Victoria’s hand closed desperately around Leo’s small, trembling wrist just as he began to plummet.

The sudden, violent jolt nearly pulled her right over the dangerous edge with him.

She gritted her teeth in absolute agony, her shoulder muscles screaming as she held his entire body weight.

A federal tactical team finally swarmed onto the rooftop, immediately tackling Marcus to the floor and snapping heavy handcuffs onto his wrists.

Two strong agents rushed over to the ledge and helped Victoria pull the sobbing boy safely back over the concrete wall.

Leo collapsed directly into Victoria’s chest, hugging her tighter than he had ever hugged anyone in his life.

"I have got you, you are perfectly safe now," Victoria cried, burying her face in his messy hair.

Down below, paramedics had already stabilized Julian's gunshot wound and were carefully loading him into a waiting ambulance.

The nightmare that had started with a simple spilled glass of wine was finally over.

In the peaceful months that followed, the corrupt Syndicate leaders were systematically hunted down and locked away in federal prison forever.

Victoria officially adopted both Leo and Julian, finally giving the orphaned twins the loving family and safe home they deserved.

The massive estate was no longer a cold, lonely fortress, but a place filled with laughter, expensive toys, and genuine happiness.

The boys thrived in their new lives, attending the best schools and slowly healing from their dark, traumatic pasts.

Everything seemed absolutely perfect as they sat together in the bright, sunny living room on a quiet Sunday afternoon.

But then, the heavy brass knocker on the front door echoed through the silent house.

A confused butler walked in carrying a strange, unmarked black envelope addressed specifically to Leo.

Inside the envelope was a fresh photograph of Victoria’s allegedly dead father holding a newspaper printed with today’s exact date.

A burner phone at the bottom of the package suddenly began to ring loudly.

When Leo hesitantly answered, a distorted voice whispered, "You handled Marcus well, but the real game has just begun."
