Chapter 5 - The Sabotage

The market opened the next morning in a frenzy. Clara’s public threat had triggered a massive sell-off of Sterling Group stock. Richard was bleeding money.
But Richard Sterling was a cornered rat, and rats fight dirty.
Clara was leaving the hospital after visiting Lily when her car was suddenly boxed in by two black SUVs in the parking garage. Four men in dark suits stepped out, wielding steel batons.
Clara’s driver reached for a weapon, but he was knocked unconscious before he could draw it.
The men dragged Clara out of the car. "Mr. Sterling thinks you need to leave the city," the lead thug growled, raising his baton. "Or you're going to have a tragic accident."
Before the baton could fall, the screech of tires echoed through the concrete garage. Alexander’s sports car slammed into one of the SUVs. Alexander leapt out, moving with terrifying speed. He didn't fight like a businessman; he fought like a mercenary. He disarmed the first thug, breaking his arm with a sickening crunch, and dropped the second with a brutal kick to the chest.
The remaining two men fled in their SUV.
Alexander rushed to Clara, dropping to his knees, his hands frantically checking her face and arms for injuries. "Are you hurt? Clara, talk to me!"
"I'm fine," she gasped, her hands shaking as she gripped his lapels. "I'm okay."
Alexander pulled her into a fierce, crushing embrace. He buried his face in her hair, his breathing ragged. "If they had touched you... I would have killed him. I swear to god, Clara, I would have killed him."
Clara looked up into his eyes, seeing the ruthless billionaire completely stripped of his armor, terrified of losing her. She leaned in, pressing her lips to his.
Alexander kissed her back with a desperate, consuming hunger. The contract between them had just evaporated. This was no longer just business. It was personal.

"He crossed the line," Clara whispered against his lips.
"Then we end him," Alexander vowed. "Tonight."
