Chapter 2 - The Shockwave

Vincent did not hesitate for a single second.
He sprinted toward the front doors and tackled Alina and Mia to the marble floor.
Dominic dove behind a solid stone pillar on the porch.
Frank panicked and ran frantically toward the front gates.
The explosive detonated with a deafening, earth-shattering roar.
A massive fireball consumed the black SUV instantly.
Shattered glass and burning metal rained down across the perfectly manicured lawn.
The shockwave blew the heavy oak front doors completely off their hinges.
Vincent shielded Alina and Mia with his own body as debris pelted his overcoat.
The thick smoke smelled horribly like sulfur and burning rubber.
Alina coughed violently, holding her terrified daughter tightly against her chest.
Vincent slowly pushed himself up.
His ears were ringing, but he checked to ensure the mother and child were unhurt.
Mia was crying silently, her tiny hands gripping his lapel.
Vincent felt a rare surge of pure, uncontrollable rage.
He stepped carefully over the burning wreckage blocking the doorway.
Dominic emerged from behind the pillar, bleeding slightly from a cut on his cheek.
They both looked toward the driveway.
Frank was lying motionless near the fountain, thrown by the sheer force of the blast.
Vincent walked over to the traitor and kicked his weapon away.
Frank groaned, clutching a deep shrapnel wound in his side.
Vincent demanded to know who had paid him to plant the bomb.
Frank coughed up a mixture of blood and soot.
He smiled a grotesque, terrifying smile.

He whispered that the bomb was never meant to be the main event.
The massive estate gates suddenly slammed shut on their own, locking them all inside.
