Chapter 6 - The Flames Of Betrayal

"It's a trap!" Dominic roared, grabbing Clara by the waist.

He violently threw her out of the hospital room and into the hallway just as the timer hit zero.

The explosion ripped through the VIP suite with catastrophic force.

Flames and shattered concrete erupted into the corridor, throwing Dominic completely off his feet.

He crashed hard into the opposite wall, the air driven from his lungs in a painful rush.

The hospital's fire alarms instantly began to scream, spraying cold water down from the ceiling sprinklers.

Dominic struggled to his knees, his ears ringing violently as he searched through the thick smoke.

"Clara!" he yelled, coughing as the toxic dust filled his throat.

"I'm here," she whimpered, crawling toward him through the debris.

She was covered in soot and terrified, but completely uninjured thanks to his quick reaction.

Two of Dominic's men had been killed instantly by the blast, their bodies buried under the rubble.

Enzo rushed up the emergency stairwell, his gun drawn and his face pale with panic.

"We have to move, boss, the police are swarming the building!" Enzo shouted.

Dominic pulled Clara to her feet, wrapping a protective arm around her waist.

"He knew exactly which room we were going to," Dominic realized, his mind racing.

"Only my inner circle knew the grandmother's location before we left the mansion."

Enzo looked at him, the horrifying truth dawning on both men simultaneously.

"We have a rat in the family," Enzo whispered.

They rushed down the stairs, escaping through the loading dock just as the first sirens wailed in the distance.

They climbed into a backup vehicle and sped away into the dark city streets.

Dominic pulled out his encrypted phone to call the mansion and check on Lily.

The line rang twice before a strange, heavily accented voice answered the secure channel.
