Chapter 9 - The Ghost Unleashed

The driveway was an absolute slaughterhouse of deafening gunfire, blinding smoke, and screaming men.

Elias fired relentlessly from behind the SUV, desperately trying to protect his mother from the chaotic crossfire.

He looked over at Marin and saw that her shoulder was bleeding heavily from the grazing gunshot wound.

Marin completely ignored the intense pain, her eyes scanning the battlefield with cold, mechanical calculation.

She realized that Elias's loyal men were severely outnumbered by Julian's heavily armed mercenaries.

If the firefight continued for another five minutes, Elias and Adelaide would undoubtedly be slaughtered.

Marin reached into her medical bag and pulled out three highly volatile chemical flares used for emergency rescues.

She looked at Elias with eyes that belonged to a seasoned general rather than a simple night nurse.

"Keep your mother's head down and do not move," Marin ordered with an authority that left no room for argument.

She sparked all three flares simultaneously and threw them high into the dark, rainy sky.

The blinding red light completely disoriented the remaining mercenaries and cast terrifying, elongated shadows across the lawn.

Marin used the brief, chaotic distraction to sprint directly into the open crossfire without a single shred of hesitation.

She moved through the battlefield like a phantom, disarming, crippling, and eliminating the traitors with terrifying efficiency.

Elias watched in sheer, absolute awe as the woman he paid minimum wage systematically dismantled a professional hit squad.

She did not waste a single bullet, striking with a ruthless, calculated lethality that only came from years of black-ops warfare.

Within three horrific minutes, the entire driveway was completely silent, leaving only Elias's loyal guards standing in the red glow.

Marin stood completely still in the center of the muddy lawn, surrounded by dozens of fallen mercenaries.

Elias slowly approached her, his weapon lowered, looking at her as if she were a mythological god of war.

He opened his mouth to ask her who she truly was, but the distant wail of approaching police sirens finally broke the silence.
