Chapter 8 - The Truth Revealed
The armored SUV rolled to a slow, crushing halt just a few feet away from the tense standoff.
Elias immediately lowered his weapon and rushed to the driver's side of the damaged vehicle to help his mother.
Adelaide was incredibly pale and struggling to breathe, but her fierce eyes were burning with undeniable clarity.
She looked at her oldest son and pointed a trembling, blood-stained finger directly at Julian.
"Your brother paid them to kill me," Adelaide rasped, her voice cutting through the silent night like a blade.
Elias froze completely, his mind violently processing the devastating weight of his mother's accusation.
He slowly turned his head to look at the man he had trusted and protected his entire life.
Julian's face instantly lost all of its color as the carefully constructed web of lies finally collapsed around him.
Julian panicked, raising his weapon and firing a desperate shot directly at his own mother.
Marin moved faster than humanly possible, physically tackling Elias and throwing her own body in front of the bullet.
The heavy caliber round grazed Marin's shoulder, tearing through her uniform and sending her crashing into the mud.
Elias let out a deafening roar of pure, unfiltered agony and raised his assault rifle toward his traitorous brother.
He did not hesitate for a single fraction of a second before pulling the trigger.
A hail of bullets tore through Julian's chest, dropping the younger Ferrante dead onto the wet grass instantly.
Julian's secret loyalists within the strike team immediately raised their weapons to avenge their fallen leader.
Elias's loyal men raised their guns in response, completely dividing the private army down the middle.
A massive, incredibly brutal civil war erupted right there in the muddy driveway of the burning estate.
