Chapter 2 - The Lethal Injection

I stared at the paused image of the syringe.

My mind raced as I tried to comprehend the full scope of her plan.

Vanessa had not just planned a simple accident on the stairs.

She was going to inject Noah with something lethal before pushing him.

I told Lily to go to her room and lock the door tightly.

I promised her that everything was going to be perfectly fine.

Once she was safe, I quietly walked down to the kitchen.

I waited until the house was entirely silent before searching the trash cans.

Buried deep underneath a pile of wet coffee grounds, I found it.

It was a small, empty glass vial with a torn prescription label.

I immediately called Marcus, my trusted head of private security.

Marcus arrived ten minutes later and carefully bagged the empty vial.

He ran the serial number through his secure medical database.

He looked at me with an expression of pure terror on his face.

The vial contained a massive dose of potassium chloride.

It was a drug designed to induce a sudden and untraceable heart attack.

But the most terrifying part was the name on the prescription record.

The lethal medication had been officially prescribed under my own name.
