Chapter 2 - The Hospital Trap

David backed away as the two heavy security guards moved into the small hospital room.
He raised his hands in surrender, completely bewildered by the sudden accusation.
He begged Dr. Evans to explain what was happening.
Dr. Evans held up his tablet, showing a terrifyingly detailed medical history file.
The file claimed David had a severe psychological condition and a history of medically abusing his daughter.
David stared at the screen, recognizing Victoria's flawless digital signature at the bottom of the documents.
Victoria had spent the last two years quietly building a fake medical profile to frame him.
The doctor accused David of poisoning Lily to keep her paralyzed for sympathy and financial gain.
One of the security guards reached out and grabbed David by the shoulder.
Adrenaline exploded in David's chest.
He couldn't let them take him away and leave Lily alone with Victoria's twisted medical network.
David swung his elbow back, striking the guard hard in the jaw.
The man stumbled backward, crashing into the metal medical tray.
The second guard lunged forward, but David shoved him into Dr. Evans.
David grabbed Lily from the examination bed, holding her tightly against his chest.
He sprinted out of the room and down the chaotic emergency ward hallway.
Nurses shouted and alarms began to blare overhead.
David pushed through the heavy metal doors of the emergency stairwell.
He carried his nine-year-old daughter down four flights of stairs, his lungs burning with every step.
They burst out into the damp, cold air of the hospital parking garage.
David hid behind a concrete pillar, trying to catch his breath.
He peeked around the corner to see if his car was clear.
Instead of the police, he saw a sleek black sedan idling near the hospital exit.
Victoria was sitting in the driver's seat, applying red lipstick in the rearview mirror.
The emergency room doors slid open and Dr. Evans walked out calmly.
The doctor didn't look like a man who had just been assaulted.
May you like
He walked straight to Victoria’s car and leaned into the passenger window.
Victoria handed the doctor a thick, unmarked brown envelope.
