Chapter 8 - The Tarmac Standoff

Pain radiated through my entire body, making my vision blur.
Greg placed his finger on the trigger, a cruel smile spreading across his face.
"It is nothing personal, Daniel, it is just business," Greg yelled over the engines.
Suddenly, a blinding pair of headlights illuminated the dark runway.
Sarah slammed her foot on the gas pedal, driving her heavy sedan directly at Greg.
Greg dove out of the way just as the car smashed violently into the jet's landing gear.
The impact sent sparks flying and completely disabled the aircraft.
Greg dropped his pistol as he tumbled across the rough asphalt.
I forced myself to ignore the agonizing pain in my shoulder.
I scrambled to my feet and tackled Greg before he could reach his weapon.
We fought viciously on the ground, trading heavy, bloody punches in the dark.
I finally managed to pin him down, knocking him unconscious with a swift blow to the temple.
I turned my attention to the boarding stairs, panting heavily.
Vanessa was backing away toward the dark perimeter fence, holding Noah tightly against her.
Noah was wheezing loudly, his face turning a terrifying shade of pale blue.
"Give him the inhaler, Vanessa!" I pleaded, slowly walking toward her.
Vanessa laughed, dropping the plastic inhaler onto the ground and crushing it under her heel.
She pulled a small, black electronic device with a red button from her coat pocket.
"Stay exactly where you are, Daniel," she threatened frantically.
"I rigged your mother's house with highly volatile explosives before I left."
May you like
She held her thumb directly over the detonator button.
"If you take one more step, your mother dies in a massive fireball."
